Lasers In Coloproctology

Working with our partner Biolitec we have developed new treatments HeLP®, LHP®, FiLaC® and SiLaC – our laser solutions in coloproctology. These are utilising wavelengths of 1470nm and 980nm

Producing better surgical outcomes, shorter procedure times and cost efficiency.

Modern laser therapy has a lot to offer for the minimally invasive treatment of delicate areas. In the field of coloproctology, biolitec® focuses on the gentle laser treatment of hemorrhoids and fistulas.

Specific Applications:

HeLP® (Hemorrhoid Laser Procedure) – for hemorrhoids

A painless outpatient technique for treating 2nd degree hemorrhoids with a slight prolapse using our exclusive HeLP® equipment and technology available by license or authorization uniquely from biolitec Group: The HeLP® Proctoscope is designed for easy passage into the anal canal and provided with a channel to guide the disposable HeLP®Doppler probe, which allows for identifying the branches of the superior hemorrhoidal arteries above the dentate line.

This technique is safe and causes minimal pain or discomfort to the patient. Post operative recovery is faster than alternative approaches, with only few complications. Anesthesia or analgesia are generally no longer required what greatly reduces complications, whilst simplifying the procedure and making the treatment safer, faster and completely outpatient with minimal or no pain postoperatively for the patient, showing excellent immediate and long term results.

LHP® (LaserHemorrhoidoPlasty) – for hemorrhoids

LHP® is used for the gentle therapy of advanced hemorrhoids of 3rd or 4th degree under appropriate anesthesia and enables the endoluminal laser coagulation of both segmental and circular hemorrhoidal nodes. As the energy of the laser is inserted centrally into the hemorrhoidal node, the hemorrhoid can be treated according to its size without causing any damage to the anoderm or mucosa. No foreign materials (clamps) are needed, and LHP® is not associated with any risk of stenosis. Healing is excellent because, unlike conventional surgeries, there are no incisions or stitches.

FiLaC® (Fistula-tract Laser Closure) – for anal fistulas

FiLaC® removes the fistula tract as gently as possible. The flexible, radially emitting FiLaC® fiber is positioned exactly by using the pilot beam and applies energy to the pathway of the fistula tract. The efficient radiation concept of the FiLaC® fiber makes optimal use of the laser energy applied.

Using minimally invasive laser therapy, the treatment of anal fistulas does not damage the sphincter: Any parts of the muscle are preserved to a maximum, and incontinence is avoided.

SiLaC (Sinus Pilonidalis treatment) – for sinus pilonidalis

The newest field of application for FiLaC® is the treatment of sinus pilonidalis, or pilonidal cysts during the so called SiLaC treatment. Here, the laser therapie achieves excellent healing results, minimal wound surfaces and convincing cosmetic results.

Other possible proctological applications of the biolitec® laser and fibers are:

  • Skin tags
  • Removal of polyps
  • Condyloma
  • Fissures
